Problem is it doesn't seem like there's an easy method to get to Bendery Fortress to Tiraspol that I'm finding. See a few Marshrutka's, but seems I have to transfer and really am not getting a good idea of where they eventually stop or pick up in Bender.
Heard there is a trolleybus, but not finding any information on that either. Using www. Normally I wouldn't mind walking, but not sure it's very good to walk between the two cities as I don't think there's any sidewalks at all next to the roads See also the borders on OpenStreetMap, even if there are some details that are not correct e.
You have to keep in mind that the two sides never agreed about the border, as they don't agree about the independence of Transnistria from Moldova. So it's just a de-facto border that is not delimited.
For practical reasons, it's enough to know where the transnistrian authorities control. Often, it helps to check Wikipedia for the places you're interested in:. So I opted to do that rather than do it all myself. That made going through the border easier and we got enough time at Bendry Fortress, though I didn't get the free roaming time I would have liked in Tiraspol and probably missed out on some things, but we did go to a number of areas.
So in a way it relieved a lot of the stress doing it alone, but also may have hindered my from seeing more of what I might have saw doing it solo as well They both follow the same route through the town of Bender, but take slightly different routes through Tiraspol. Upon entering the Southeast side of Bender, near the sewage plant what a smell! It was more like two gates, a bunch of signs, and a small booth on the North side of the road.
